It has been awhile since my last post. The last month or so has been great refueling travel break. Feeling recharged and ready for more discoveries and personal growth.
Vietnam has set the bar on travel. Going freely as one please, discover the unbeaten path, go where no tourist goes, without following bus or train schedules, it is truly the best way to travel. However hard I've been trying to replicate this in China, it is impossible.
The communist has gone to the extremes of banning motorcycle in all major cities. Motorcycle can be purchased, but cannot be licensed. Government is trying...
Started the road trip with my Dad, and having checked off another landmark on the China' currency, the $20 rmb. It got me thinking how many landmarks on money bills I'v visited. For China, I have seen most of the places, except the $10 and $50, which will be the next stop.
For the last week or so, I have been frantically looking for ways to recover lost data from my phone. The old nexus S died on me, just 9 hours short of arriving from Vietnam. Not sure how turning it off and back on kill the Android OS. It will boot up, but constantly crashing even in safe mode. With the phone...
Ambitious day, we were trying to make it to Da Nang, 280kms away. We are thinking, if everything goes smoothly, no rain, good roads, this goal can be accomplish. Started the day early with breakfast, we were on our way leaving Kon Tum by 11 am.
Along this mountainous area, weather comes and goes. Just less than an hour into our ride, rain was slowly getting to us. We were in the middle of no where, just minority villagers along the way.
As we were getting our rain gears on, we were invited to take shelter is a small wooden house with a metal roof.
The metal roof...
Our trip today will be a long 180kms journey. As we are avoiding hwy QL1, we are taking the smaller hwys that cuts through rural towns along the way.
As we are leaving Buon Ma Thuot, we encountered even more dense field with the yellow butterflies . Its really fairytale seeing so many floating around us.
-Field of butterflies video
Other than its beauty, it actually very difficult riding through them. It's very painful when we can't avoid colliding. It's freaky when one somehow flies through the crack between the visor and the helmet, trapped inside the helmet right in your...
We started the day by touring south of BMT. Getting lost and going off the map as we try heading towards the lake
The area just south of BMT has a lot of yellow butterflies. As the roaring bike pass by, it's disturbed their peace, causing the butterflies to fly all around us in panic. Its like a fairy tale, waves of butterflies floating in the air.
As we made it to the lake area, we found a huge elephant in the open field. There is an elephant sanctuary near by, possibly why this magnificent animal gets to roam freely
On our way back, we decided to complete a loop...
