During the last 5 days, I was fortunate enough to be invited to the homes of Moroccans. I’ve stayed with a family in Casablanca, Rabat and Fez.
Ramadan is base on the lunar month, where Muslims devote themselves to the Islamic religion. For a period of 14 hours each day, from 5 am to 7pm, they practice something call fasting. Where one does not eat, does not drink, does not smoke, and does not have sex. This will last for a period 30 days, long enough to recite the 30 prayers of Quran.
It is a period of cleansing the mind, body and soul. It is also a period of spiritually enlightment. For some, this is also a period of hardship, as they have forgotten the meaning behind ramadan.
As a non Muslim, I do not have to obey to those rules. But finding food during the day is impossible. All the restaurants are closed. Unless you are in the tourist area, or manage to find McD, it will be starvation for most of the day until breaking the fast. Breakfast, or 1 meal of the day at 7pm.
Wow man pretty crazy stuff!!!
