Everyday’s essential, is redefined by your experience. As T. E. LAWRENCE had fallen in love with this vast, red, awery peaceful and tranquil valley, it humble oneself. Nothing clears the mind. The red hues of Rum or “reach for the sky” glows and glimmers under the Arabian sun. The jagged mountains are a mountaineer dream playground. Exploring the siq and canvases, you are rewarded with neolithic craving dating back 6000BC.
Not only admiring the ancient rock inscription made by nabataean and thamudic people there are rock bridge to scale. These fascinating formation were formed by soft rock being slowly eroded away leaving just the hard heart of the rock behind. Not recommended if ur afraid of heights. Wadi rum may look hostile but fun is all around you.
Camel riding up the sand dune then running or rolling down the red soft mountains of sand felt like running on clouds. After hours in the sun. It’s time to retreat back to the Bedouin desert campsite. But just before that a quick stop at a nearby sunset spot to see the sun kiss the mountain as it retreat after a hard days work. As cliches as it may be a picture is worth a thousand words. I will let you decide.
A traditional dinner with Bedouin style tea is a great way to complete the desert experience.
Wadi rum has one more surprise up it sleeve. A starry sky that sparks ur imagination of old way gone by. A reminisce of how ancient Travellers like the three wises king navigated by the stars.
