The day started great as we found a local secluded beach. Not a tourist in sight, nor any locals, which tend to like the beach an hour before dust sets in.
Being foreigners tends to get the local curiosity going. Even with a huge language barrier, locals like to invite us for whatever they are doing. BBQ seafood and a few local specialty drinks.
Day is awesome, getting to experience the local way of life. From what we understood, these road constitution worker are taking an early break, in the middle of the afternoon. Doesn’t look like they are planning to head back to work after.
All things are great until stupidity happens.
Ending the day by rushing my buddy to.the clinic in Binh Chau, where the wound is stitch up. Then rush him to the hospital that is about 30 mins away as he is loosing consciousness. Then to a 3rd hospital in the in the bigger city of Bia Chai where they have proper scanning equipments.
Buddy will be on heavy meds for awhile. All the meds and hospital fee cost no more than $15. But it was the hour taxi ride cost the most, a whopping $40.
update: my buddy is alright. Sort out the bribes with the cops, and is heading back home. His journey will continue sometime in May with starting with Turkey.
