Day 307: Researching Mekong Delta

Posted on March 4, 2013      by Erik

I haven’t gone to the Mekong Delta yet. Been spending too much time reading about it, and not actually doing it. As the Mekong river splits just before making into the china sea, been having a hard time deciding which city I would like to stay and view the famous floating market.

The Mekong stretches from the Himalayas, going through Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and finally south Vietnam near Can Tho.

Trying to find a place where it is still very authentic, not build for tourism. From the books I’ve researched, Vinh Long might be a good location, can do homestay with the locals. Another great spot might be Phony Dien, just southwest of Can Tho, where some boats are still man power rowing. Will probably decide very soon where to go.
