Day 26: Every pound counts

The road trip is coming to an end soon. Will be traveling without the convenience of a car. Everything will have to be carried on my shoulders, while commuting and getting lost in the cities. With that in mind, knowning how overweight my backpack is, every pound shaved will count.

My electronics and camera gears alone weights over 10 kgs. Having only 5 days of clothes, there isn’t much to cut from the necessities. So it has come to conclusion some of the camera gears must go. A few things that i haven’t used much since the beginning of the trip, will be going back home:

-2 Tripods, one mini for compact camera, and one gorilla tripod. Will have to carry the full size tripod instead : (

-Light meter, will have to settle for less accurate camera’s build-in reflective metering system

-Wireless trigger, will be running back and forth will the camera 2 and 10 seconds timer instead

-extra batteries

Another thing that can shave 1 kg is to replace the full size tripod legs to carbon fiber version. $300 for 1 kg less weight, will it be worth it?

$300 for 1kg? You are getting a bargin. Just look at Porsche GT3 RS, 44LB lighter than the regular GT3 and it costs $50k more.
