Poland was a short and pleasurable stop over. Met some local friends that runs a bar. Had the opportunity to try a lot of deadly smooth Polish Volka. These drinks starts sweet and smooth, doesn't burn the throat while going down, but will hit you hard after an hour. If you smoke the flaming Polish absune, will hit you instantly!
A few tips and tricks I've learned:
-how to smoke alcohol! Coolest thing ever!
-Do not drink water during hangover if you had strong alcohol that are 50%+, you will get drunk again
-Polish makes avg 400 euro per month
-Best cure for hangover, more beer in the morning...
Trains and I don't seem to go well together. Been in Berlin over 10 days, never had any train issues with the S41/S42 lines that circles the city. On the day you need it to be on time, it breaks down. Good thing the Ostbahnhof station is fairly close by, just a taxi ride away.
That was just the beginning. When I arrived at the station, it turns out I'm at the wrong station. Good thing Krakow, Poland is a common route from Berlin, was able to exchange the to ticket and leave from Ostbahnhof.
There might an issue affecting all trains in Berlin, the train to Poland left 45mins late. That in turns...
Met Thomas at the Bird burger joint. With the little English, we had an amazing conversation. A lot of times, you are surprised how much body language can explain, even complicated topics.
The Berlin wall is well known. We always heard East Berlin, West Berlin, East Germany, and West Germany. We planned an unexpected stop to visit another country before going to Prague. We went to Bratislava, Solvenska as it was just on the way. We went for a quick lunch in a restaurant called Bratislavsky Mestiansky Pivovar as it has pretty good rating on Trip advisor. Indeed the food and service were really good! The server is friendly. We had 2 entrees and 2 beers and the bill was only 20 €.
After lunch, we tried to find our way to the St. Martin's Cathedral. We ended up getting stuck in an alley road and was finally...
The Schonbrunn palace is worth visiting. The 40+ rooms are well kept exhibition of the emperor rule. Too bad no photos allowed. The ball room hall is exquisite, as grand as one imagination. This palace shows how the royalty lived. How the princess lived. Keep on princesses! The garden court yard is heavenly. It seems like a mile apart from one end to the other. Truly a palace worth visiting.
The Belvedere palace is well worth visiting as well. It is a museum of neoclassical, realism, impressionist art. The upper Belvedere took over an hour and a half of viewing. We could easily spent a day there.
