Took a ride in some crazy fast boat down narrow canals of Bangkok. For 18bath (60 cents), it sure is a great way to cross from west to East and vise versa.
It's amazing how these boats are packed with locals. Don't expect the boat will wait for you to completely get on before moving. Nor expect any life jackets on board.
Another great find is the local food stalls just south of the Thong Lo station. Easily spotted while heading to Exit 4.
The mango sticky rice is the cheapest and the best I've had so far. $2 compare to the $4+ around town, perfectly ripped for the sweetest....
Was too lazy to do my own laundry. Even though the hostel has both the washer and dryer. I'm currently wearing the last set of clean clothes, all the way down to last pair of underwear and socks. Even have to wear long sleeve is such hot weather.
The laundry services here charge by weight. It is actually interesting knowing all my dirty clothes weight slightly under 2 kg.
On one of my previous post, my essential backpack weights 11kg or so. I just can't believe the other stuff and the bag weights that much. Maybe it's time to dump some more things I haven't used
Lately, I've been focusing more on the local seen than attractions. In the streets of Bangkok, this truly stands out. Street vendors selling all kinds of counterfeit products, from fake Ray Ban sunglasses, to Thai Boxing shorts, to the magic blue pill. Who in their right sober mind would consider buying the BLUE pill on the street?
Was wandering near the Nana station, the food here taste better than any Thai restaurant that cost 10 times more.
Awesome food for $2!
Been in Bangkok just slightly over a week. After visiting the Grand Palace and a few tourist attractions, I haven't gone anywhere since. Been just chilling at the hostel, and trying to do some research as to where to hit next.
I think the typical tourist attractions no longer interest me. I've been researching about Muay Thai (aka Thai Boxing). There are a few camps in Bangkok, Phuket, and a few other cities. The simple idea of doing a routine training for a week or two sounds welcoming. I haven't decide how long I want to sign up for, as the training starts early each day with a 10 kms jog for warm...
Been in Bangkok for a few days, today is the 1st day I'm back to solo travel. Previously had been spending time with my family and relatives here. So have been traveling more lavishly, and been getting to places by car instead of local commute. During solo travel, I always try to avoid taxi, and take local transit instead. Thanks to Google Map, I know which bus to take when I'm out of metro area.
In Bangkok, most foreigners do not take local bus. As there are plenty of taxi and tuktuk taxi to get foreigners around. Some taxi refuse to use the meter, so it's taxi heaven. Yet still affordable...
