Angkor Wat is definitely one of the world wonders. Per lonely Planet, it is as magicstic as Petra, and Machu Picchu. After the day visit, it is surely as impressive as Petra.
What I like Angkor Wat is how it is still so accessible. You can still discover it for yourself rather than follow a guide path with ropes blockading access. You can still climb the old huge stairs, if you dare enough. Each step is purposely made this difficult, as the Khmer believed climbing to heaven should not be a easy task.
It's a must visit before some tourist ruins it for everyone. Just like how Petra...
Siem Reap reminds me of the commercial, Civic-nation. Basically all the cars in town are all nicely supped up Honda Civic. It was a cool marketing when you are a car nut.
Siem Reap is run by Toyota? 99% of the cars are Toyota, while at least 80% of that are Camry. Sometimes I wonder if I am in Japan? With the exception the currency in use is US dollar. I'm actually surprised to see the US 2 dollar bill here.
Well, today started a bit later than I wanted. Got up a little bit late, as last night I was trapped with a mosquito behind the mosquito net. I think I fed it so well it stop...
Trying to follow step 1 from website seat61.com, catch the 6:20 train that pass by Masakan Train station. As this station is the closest to where I'm staying. Estimate 10mins taxi max.
5:15am
-check out of the hotel
-got hustle by the cab driver right off the street, asking flat rate 100 baht for the trip
-walk 5 steps away from him and wave down the approaching taxi that will use the meter. Guessing it will cost 50 baht
5:2?am
- taxi made a right instead of the expected left turn
-try telling him it is behind us, but he seems sure it right ahead. He didn't say a word, got all this...
I'm still in BKK. After writing the blog last night, I wasn't able to sleep until early morning. I could have join the irish boys to Siem Reap, would be nice having company on the journey. However, I choose to stay and rest well tonight. Since the train leaves at 6 am, I decided to upgrade and get a nice private room for twice the cost of the hostel. Not bad for $25 bucks (770 baht)
Since I'm in town, I went back to the street food by Thong Lo station. It is simply the best street food. This time I did take some photos before I finish the dishes...
This street chef went on some...
It's 2:40am. I just done the required research to see if it makes more sense to head towards the east of Bangkok instead. Towards Cambodia, and then Vietnam.
The last few days in Bangkok has been relaxing and keeping my options open. Although I want to sign up for the Muay Thai training. The school I like to attend is in Phuket, south of Thailand, neighboring Malaysia. It seems to make more sense to head there when I'm ready for further south, like Malaysia and Singapore.
The idea of heading to Cambodia ignited after meeting a few new friends in the hostel, and after reading the lonely...
