Angkor Wat is definitely one of the world wonders. Per lonely Planet, it is as magicstic as Petra, and Machu Picchu. After the day visit, it is surely as impressive as Petra.

What I like Angkor Wat is how it is still so accessible.  You can still discover it for yourself rather than follow a guide path with ropes blockading access. You can still climb the old huge stairs, if you dare enough. Each step is purposely made this difficult, as the Khmer believed climbing to heaven should not be a easy task.

It’s a must visit before some tourist ruins it for everyone. Just like how Petra used to be. Tourist can access the Petra Treasury until one tourist decided to pee in there.
